The purpose of these lessons is to focus on the individual needs of each student, and to help them develop their own strategies and style. Private lessons are ideal for those who want to drastically improve their technique and conditioning in a short period of time. Private lessons
are available for individual students, or small groups of 1-4 students.

Students in this class wear the traditional Jiu-Jitsu Gi, also known as a kimono. You can take a look at the gallery to see what a Gi looks like. This class is the foundation for all of your grappling training and should be an integral part of your training regimen. It is also suggested that students train in both Gi and No-Gi classes to develop a well rounded game. Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Self Defense Our kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Self Defense classes will help your child develop self confidence, discipline, respect, and coordination while training in a fun and exciting family atmosphere. They will learn the fundamental movements of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu while interacting with other children their age. Submission Grappling (No GI training) The Submission Grappling/Takedowns class focuses on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu without the GI (Jiu-Jitsu uniform). Most of the Submission Grappling students wear a rash guard or t-shirt and a form of sport or fight shorts to train in. To see an example of common rash guards and fight shorts, visit the links section and take a look at the merchandise links. Submission Grappling has become incredibly popular due to events such as the Abu Dhabi World Submission Wrestling Championships, Grappler's Quest, and Naga just to name a few. Such events offer up cash prizes in certain divisions, as well as the opportunity to test your skills against some of the best practitioners from all over the world. The Submission Grappling class is ideal for those looking to improve their takedowns, self defense, and grappling skills without having to rely on the extra "holds" that a GI offers. This type of training is also ideal for practitioners of MMA who are looking to develop a well rounded ground game for competition in Mixed Martial Arts events. Basic Striking In the Basic Striking class you will learn the fundamentals of Western Boxing, Muay Thai, and Kickboxing. This class is perfect for those looking to build their foundation for MMA or anyone who wants to learn the right way to punch and kick. The Basic Striking class is open to anyone beginner-advanced and is a pre-requisite to the "Advanced MMA" classes on Mondays and Wednesdays. MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) In the MMA class we work on striking, takedowns, and submission grappling. These are all essential ingredients for a very well rounded fighter. The term "MMA" was made popular by fight events such as Ultimate Fighting. MMA simply stands for "Mixed Martial Arts", which is just as stated, a mix of different styles to create a well rounded practitioner. Most of the MMA students wear a rash guard or t-shirt and a form of sport or fight shorts to train in. To see an example of common rash guards and fight shorts, visit the links section and take a look at the merchandise links. The MMA class is ideal for those looking to get in great condition, as well as those who are persuing a Mixed Martial Arts fighting career. Competition Team Class The competition class is only open to those who are training to compete for the FBJJ Competition Team. There are a set of guidelines that have to be met in order to be part of the competition team. This class is provided to supplement the training of those who are serious about competing. The class includes a harder workout and more sparring time, as well as more one on one work with the instructor. For more information email or call 253-208-3270. Open Mat Simply put, open mat is unstructured training time. It's the ideal time for a student to put in extra time on the mat, either practicing technique or sparring with a training partner. It's also a great opportunity to ask your instructor any questions you have about Jiu-Jitsu, exercise, diet, etc.
